Job Title: Estimator
Job Summary: The Estimator is responsible for accurately pricing projects by performing detailed quantity take-offs, soliciting and evaluating subcontractor proposals, and maintaining current unit pricing. Success in this role directly impacts project profitability and quality through precise bidding and strong subcontractor relationships.
Responsibilities:
- Quantity Take-offs: Perform detailed and organized quantity take-offs to ensure accurate project pricing.
- Subcontractor Relations: Develop and maintain strong relationships with qualified subcontractors and suppliers.
- Bid Preparation: Prepare and distribute comprehensive bid packages, ensuring adequate coverage for each trade.
- Scope Development: Develop clear Scopes of Work and conduct thorough bid evaluations for subcontractors.
- Drawing Analysis: Interpret and analyze construction drawings to identify project requirements.
- Request for Information (RFI): Initiate RFIs to clarify any discrepancies or missing information in project documents.
- Site Visits: Attend job walks to gain a comprehensive understanding of project scope and design intent.
- Document Management: Utilize Procore or similar platforms to organize and share construction documents effectively.
- Bid Compilation: Aggregate subcontractor bids into final proposals, ensuring clarity and completeness.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the construction operations team to validate project schedules and resource requirements.
- Change Tracking: Monitor and document changes in project scope and pricing throughout the bidding process.
- Support During Construction: Provide insights to the Project Manager and Project Engineer regarding scope, lead times, or pricing issues during project execution.

Education & Experience:
- Education: Post-secondary education preferred, including: Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Construction, Engineering, or Construction Management; or Continuing education credits or certificates related to construction (e.g., LEED certification).
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years as an Estimator in commercial construction.
- Construction Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of the construction process from initiation to closeout.
- Project Estimation: Experience estimating multiple commercial projects simultaneously, ranging from $1 million to $20 million.
- Software Skills: Strong proficiency in Excel, Word, MS Project, and Outlook.
